PUBLIC NOTICE
Central Union High School District Board Vacancy

Pursuant to Education Code Sections 5090-5095, the Central Union High School District Board of Education is seeking interested persons who may wish to be appointed to serve as a member of the Central Union High School District Board of Education until December 2026.

To be eligible to serve on the board, a person must be (as per Education Code 35107):

  • 18 years of age or older
  • A citizen of the state
  • A resident of the school district
  • A registered voter
  • Not disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office

Any person who has been convicted of a felony involving the giving, accepting, or offering of a bribe, embezzlement or theft of public funds, extortion, perjury, or conspiracy to commit any such crime, under California law or the law of another state, the United States, or another country, is not eligible to be a Board member except when he/she has been granted a pardon in accordance with law.

Eligibility is determined regardless of race, color, ancestry, national origin, ethnic group identification, religion, marital or parental status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, or genetic information, the perception of one or more of such characteristics, or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.

Applications can be found at the district website under the Governing Board tab (Vacancy BOE) or can be picked up at the Central Union High School District Office located at 351 Ross Ave., El Centro, 92243. Completed applications must be submitted to the Superintendent’s Office via email at ctaylor@mycuhsd.org or dropped off at the district office. The Superintendent’s office will receive completed applications until 5:00 p.m on December 22, 2025.

From December 23 through January 5, a subcommittee of the Board of Education, consisting of no more than two seated board members, will review the applications for eligibility (based on Education Code 35107 and Government Code 1770). The board subcommittee will inform the Superintendent’s office which applicants meet the eligibility criteria, by January 5, 2026. 

The Superintendent’s office will invite those applicants to participate in the interview process, which will take place at a special public board meeting scheduled on January 6, 2026, which will be held at the Central Union High School District Boardroom located at 351 West Ross Ave., El Centro, 92243. 

The agendas for the CUHSD Board meetings are posted on the district website under the Governing Board tab, (Vacancy BOE). Members of the public with questions regarding this appointment process are encouraged to contact the Superintendent’s Office at 760-336-4516.
